Ni-MH vs Li-Po on PSG-1 TM.wmv

Both batteries were fully charged. Systema motor with 200 % spring needs high torque and so a lot of current to work normaly. As you can see a 8,4V 1600mAh Ni-MH battery isn’t enough for instance. A 2200mAh with a big discharge current (33 Amp – 15C and more) gives awsome reactivity to AEG.

HD – NiMH vs LiPo (Lithium Polymer)

Dear viewer, I made this video for the purpose of people wondering what the differences between NiMH batteries and LiPo batteries is. Specifications of the batteries are noted at the beginning of each clip. The NiMH Battery that I’m using first is 6 cells (7.2V). Enjoy, and I hope it’s a useful video. The car’s a Traxxas Bandit VXL.

LiPo Vs NiMh in Firebird “FlyOff”

2 Cell LiPo’s are 7.4 volt. LiPos will be ruined if they go below 3 volts per cell, thus the importance in this test. It may not mean much to you that the LiPo is 1 volt less than a NiMh or Nicad, but this test is important because to protect the LiPos, the manufacturers usually set the motor cut-off voltage at 3 volts, so the battery wont go bad. So in this case, the radio shuts off the motor at 6 volts. But even though I have a volt less than the NiMh and a lot more MAHs, I cannot use all the extra MAHs because it gets cut off early due to the lower voltage. Also, this video was requested and should answer this question I keep getting. That is, will the Hobbyzone Firebird Phantom fly on a LiPo, since it is a volt less at 7.4 vs 8.4 in the NiMh? (It’s not recommended to even try a 3C 11.1v) or the motor speed controller will burn up. So these results are from Jeff and I doing a fly-off. You have to decide if it is worth it to get a Lipo, considering cost, time of charge (NiMh can be charged faster) and weight and the radio’s safety cut-off for Lipos. A Lighter battery also means you will have to add clay weight to the nose for it to be properly balanced or you will be flying nose high like I was. And since it will cut off earlier, your really gaining no big advantage. Thanks for watching and happy flying. Dave
